SC VILLA continued to put pressure on Super League table leaders
Police FC after a comprehensive 2-0 victory away to Biharwe yesterday.
Francis Ssembatya and Oscar Kadenge secured the victory over
relegation-threatened Biharwe at Kakyeka stadium, a result that puts
the Jogoos three points away from the Cops.
Ssembatya’s bullet of a header from Godfrey Ssentongo’s corner kick gave the visitors the lead ten minutes after kick off.
Kenyan striker Oscar Kadenge then stretched his goals tally to
seven in the league after the break when he tapped in a shot by Oscar
Agaba in 68th minute.
In Iganga, skipper Sam Mubiru netted from the spot as KCC FC
resumed their campaign after a two-week break with a 1-0 victory over
Iganga.
The action however ended in an anti-climax with gunfire that rocked
Saza ground. Police fired in the air as they fought to disperse fans
who wanted to beat referee Sula Mulima, blaming him of bias.
In Buikwe, high flying Nalubaale and Victors played to a goalless draw.
In Masindi, striker Tony Odur scored his 11th goal as visiting Bunamwaya handed Kinyara a third consecutive defeat.
Boban Zirintusa and Julius Mulindwa scored the other goals for
Bunamwaya while Hesbon Mundia and Jimmy Nyakana (penalty) netted for
the home side.
Super League action continues today with champions URA and Simba FC visiting bottom sides CRO and Boroboro respectively.
URA has not won a league match since February 1 ,when they beat
Biharwe 1-0 at Namboole. The taxmen have lost three and drawn two
consecutive matches.
CRO , who are headed for the drop having managed only two wins in
26 matches, will struggle to get off the bottom of the table, and seek
a winning run to salvation.
